Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his maiden title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has had a difficult season, achieving just one win at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's maiden trophy after the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.

Victory also indicates he has secured twenty-one titles at 21 different events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters at once, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led observers to question if his ability to play at the top level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play assertively, backed up by an better serve.

He fought back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.

The pair exchanged break points in the second set before Moutet, striving for his initial tour victory, took control to push for a final set.

He rescued 4 early chances in a close final set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the win with a shot at the net area, with Moutet failing to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
